Design concept
An independent hospitality group was launching a lifestyle driven bar and dining concept aimed at young professionals and creatives. The brief asked for a space that merges culinary culture with nightlife energy, dynamic but still intimate.
Mandela was envisioned as a modern fusion of Afro urban aesthetics with an industrial edge, a space that celebrates culture, rhythm and social connection. The design strikes a balance between bold expression and cosy ambiance, using layered textures, custom lighting and curated art to bring the brand to life.
The central bar is the sculptural focal point, and the acoustic design was worked out early so live music never makes conversation at the tables impossible.
